Run autonomous work

Give Maestro one goal and let it manage the safe workflow.

Start a task

Launch your configured agent and state the outcome you want:

$maestro Add password reset to the account service, including tests and documentation.

The exact prefix depends on the host. Follow the host's native skill syntax.

What happens next

When the local runtime is running with live routing configured, Maestro reads the current state, asks Jev to select one eligible action, runs that action, and checks the result. It can route to architecture, planning, testing, review, experience, or build work as the evidence requires. If the host only loaded the $maestro skill, provider use is not verified; the skill prompt is not a provider invocation.

When it stops

It stops when the task is complete, a required check fails, or the next action needs your authority. This includes production deployment, destructive deletion, missing credentials, and external mutations.

Resume after interruption

Run Maestro again in the same project. The .ma/ state contains the saved task and receipts, so the workflow can continue instead of starting from memory.
